Best friend for trees in the city

As part of the urban climate adaptation strategy, the City of Copenhagen has established Milford KerbCell™ throughout Borgergade in central Copenhagen.

KerbCell™ is a small, rugged and advanced sluice device, designed as a border stone. As the first of its kind, it manages the direct runoff from the road to either plant bed or drain.

In summer it is typically desirable that the water finds its way to the tree, whereas in the winter - during periods of frost and tree-destructive road salting, it is more appropriate that the runoff is passed by the planting bed and to the nearest outlet. It can thus be opened and closed as needed ... or according to the weather forecast.
